Not even six months old my little, thematically very limited blog already got way more attention than I expected. Set up as an easy solution to tell family and friends about my occasional weekend photo trips to abandoned places (without sending huge e-mails all the time) and to complement the Kanto based haikyo blogs it not only drew the interest of quite a few regular readers, but also of an editor from Tokyo Weekender, a bi-weekly local lifestyle magazine published in the oh so far capital of Japan. I was asked some questions a few weeks ago and of course I was happy to give some answers. Now the great article can be read in the latest issue of Tokyo Weekender and also online here. Please check it out if you have a minute – and if Tokyo Weekender was the reason you found this blog: Welcome, I hope you’ll enjoy what you can read and see here!
You know there are hundreds of free WordPress themes that are pretty simple to install.
Yeah, I know. The baby blue simple header and the grey / white background are not really a pleasure for the eye – and I could get way more clicks / detailed statistics by only teasing each article and by having more than just two regular (but very long) pages that have all the blog entries fully readable.
Well, raining season starts soon, maybe I’ll use it to give the blog a new look.
(If anybody has any suggestions I’ll be very happy to take them into consideration – I obviously didn’t put a lot of effort in the looks of this blog so far…)
I live in Osaka but was in Tokyo last weekend and picked up Tokyo Weekender, where I learned about haikyo for the first time. I am definitely going to have to check out some of these places. Thank you!
I’m glad the article raised some attention and probably inspired you to find a new hobby. Just try a simple one first (like the One Dragon Hotel – it’s easy to find and easy to enter) before you tackle the big ones – and maybe let me know about your first experience (you can find my e-mail address on the “About” page).
