One Japanese billionaire and his three abandoned mansions – the perfect urbex location?
Gosh, there is so much to say about this guy and his three luxury mansions, but currently I have neither the time nor the motivation to write everything up properly. So please consider this a first look and a (high class) picture dump. I’m already gathering information for a proper bullshit-free article with even more spectacular photos and some videos, but there is a lot of background story to talk about, so stay tuned. Until then please enjoy the following picture set, containing photos from several visits since 2016!

Goodness, he had some money….. But perhaps not, when the mansions were abandoned….
Oh, he had money! Several billion USD actually in the early 90s.
Ah, but then what happened…awaiting another post!!
This is INSANE!
Thanks a lot – please tell a friend! 🙂
What horrible and ridiculous kitsch! To have so much money and then no taste and no education to make something valuable (not in a purely financial sense) with it. Essentially tragic.
Some of the furniture / lamps weren’t actually that well made – most rooms were spectacular to photograph, but upon closer look some of the craftsmanship wasn’t very refined…
What a beautiful home! To just leave it, and all the items inside like that … wasteful doesn’t even begin to describe. Can’t wait for your follow-up to give us a bit of history on this person. You say there are other homes abandoned by him as well? Are these now for sale? Wow …
The photo set contains pictures taken at all three mansions – and as far as I know none of them are for sale. (They have “Beware of the dog!” signs, but no real estate agency signs…)
Got it — can’t wait to read more about the owner and the history of these homes! Thank you for all you do!
How was the whiskey?
I don’t drink and explore – especially when I’m exploring solo, like on that day.
Oh boy it looks like the kind of furniture my paternal grandmother would’ve bought if she had millions and a nasty PCP habit. I would love to hear more about these villas (as well as you do Urbex, I’m a sucker for that but too coward to ever attempt it).
One thing I can tell you already – there were no personal items in any of them, so they were either still under construction or they were under renovation. But I’m sure nobody lived there at the time of their abandonment.
welp, this house quite shows that money cant buy you a taste lol
we have a term for a style of house like that in czech, it goes somehow like “entrepreneur baroque”.
after the comunism fall and there were first sucefull entrepreneur’s in the early 90s, this is pretty much exactly how they build theyr houses. an obviously newly build houses filled with antique style of furniture with unmatching eras, weird statues and stuff like this. i wonder if this businessman used to wear bright purple suit at that time too? lol
All the mirrors would drive me nuts! But I have to admit – the bathtub on the balcony is pure genius! Most of the furniture though looked quite uncomfortable and most of the ethnic lamps were actually disgusting.
personally im not a big fan of the bathtub too, but it certainly makes for an interesting photo, haha
Wow can’t wait to read the full report and those pictures are fantastic. Shame to see places like that abandoned although over here in England it would’ve been well and truly trashed and vandalised and pilfered by now
The mansions are not super well-known yet, but I’m kinda worried. They are becoming more and more popular, that’s why I finally wrote about them too – the landslide has begun and wasn’t caused by me, so I can as well join the ride.
As an Architect, I have always found it weird that when the Japanese decide to build or design in a “Western” Architectural style, they always go Baroque Rococo. I wonder why that is. Its always… well, very hard on the eyes.
Great pictures and I can’t wait for the rest of the story and more pictures
