Does anyone have any information on what has happened to the facility? Has it just been left empty?
The local government currently is in the process of deciding what to do with the CFK, but German bureaucracy isn’t faster than bureaucracy anywhere else in the world…
Front this viewpoint, the building right behind you (you can’t see this in the picture) was the old Headquarters building to the 22nd Signal Brigade. 440th Signal Battalion and the MP station were directly across the street (you can’t see too much through the bushes)…and the building to your left there was barracks. I know this corner very well. I used to park my car right where you’re standing (from the picture viewpoint).
Jim, from what I heard, some of the buildings were sold to local businesses and some are running their offices out of them, but I also heard recently (May 2016) that many of these barracks and even Lincoln Village is now being used to house the refugees that are coming from Syria.
